Donate today, to help save a life

Overview

With the blessed month of Ramadan having begun, may the love of Allah (swt) bestow upon you and your loved ones His great mercy and most wonderful blessings.

During this special time, Islamic Aid is seeking your support for our Ramadan projects. All your Ramadan donations – Zakat, Sadaqah, Fidya, Kafarah – will be used directly to give food packages to poor families and give Sahar and Iftar to orphaned and other children in great need.

The power of Zakat

As well as being a fundamental pillar of Islam, Zakat has the power to release millions of people around the world from poverty.

We should all remember that Zakat is not just a duty on those with money, but a right that the poor have over us. Islamic Aid uses your Zakat to rush emergency aid to the most vulnerable people in the world. This includes food, clean water and medicines to the victims of disasters, blankets to those fleeing conflict and vaccination programmes to prevent the spread of disease.

But more than that, your Zakat can be used to help people to help themselves, by providing education to children, farming and other tools and skills to poor families in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sudan. Or digging fresh water wells and building proper sanitation systems for villages at constant risk of disease and death from dirty water.

Your Zakat has the power to transform lives. So please be as generous as you can.

If you’re not sure how much Zakat you should pay, you can use our Zakat calculator by clicking here.

“And be steadfast in prayer and regular in charity: And whatever good ye send forth for your souls before you, ye shall find it with Allah” (Qur’an 2:110)

Lifesaving Ramadan Food Packs

Every Ramadan, Islamic Aid has continued to distribute vital lifesaving food packs to the poorest families in Asia and Africa. These packages generally weigh up to 20 kilos and are locally sourced with all the basic essential foods to feed one family for one month. Each Ramadan Food Pack costs £45, so the more packs you can pay for, the more families will be fed.

No child should go hungry

Ramadan would not be the same without bringing families and loved ones together. But for many children in the world this is not possible. Orphaned through war, famine and disease taking the lives of their parents, they have no families to feed them during the holy month of Ramadan.

We provide Suhur and Iftar for orphaned children and the children at Madrasah. We will continue every Ramadan and at all times to try to ensure more children do not go hungry.

Looking beyond Ramadan

For many of us, Ramadan is no more than a few hours of feeling hunger. But for millions around the world, hunger puts their lives at risk every day.

That’s why Islamic Aid works all year round in working towards the long-term development and sustainability of the poorest communities.

Through education, skills training and practical hands-on help, we help people develop the means to earn a living and stand on their own feet – the surest solution to poverty. For example, your Ramadan donation could pay towards a Goat Bank, teacher training, farming skills training and other vital ways of helping people to help themselves.

So please make a special donation during this blessed month. And may Allah (swt) bestow His kindness upon you and reward you for helping to relieve the suffering of our brothers and sisters.

“Whoever relieves his brother of a hardship from the hardships of this world, Allah shall relieve him of a hardship from the hardships of the Day of Judgement. And whoever makes things easy for a person in difficulty, Allah will ease for him in this world and the Next. Allah is forever aiding a slave so long as he is in the aid of his brother.” – the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
